The intention was to make this tree with as many discarded materials as possible. I managed to scavenge wire from the woods and old wire hangers as well as some random metal pipes from the Habitat for Humanity store. But alas, I also had to use two spools of wire freshly purchased, saved from the ignominy of becoming a farm fence. The material for the leaves was from scrap bins and the second hand fabric store. I also sacrificed several old T-shirts and sewed together the scraps from the leaves to help make the trunk glorious. The trunk was almost a second project in itself, one I had not given much thought to. For weeks, it kept whispering it was not done yet until that whisper finally grew silent!
